Certified Nurse Midwife

We are a nonprofit, CABC accredited, free-standing birth center located in downtown Atlanta. Our mission is to be a sanctuary that nurtures the lives of women and their families by providing a continuum of family-centered holistic care surrounding the childbearing experience.

We have a vision of a community where birth is embraced as the most fundamental part of a conscious and connected human experience, where individual voices are heard and medical intervention is a necessary exception- not the norm.

We opened July of 2016 and are thriving with 6 full-time midwives who attend approximately 40-65 births per month combined at the birth center and at the hospital. We are committed to excellent outcomes and are well integrated in the medical system. We are launching a hospital based midwifery service for those who desire or need a planned hospital birth who are overall low-risk and appropriate for primary midwifery care.

Atlanta Birth Center is grateful to have been born into a rich and vibrant birth community of doulas, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, and so much more.

Atlanta Birth Center believes in collaborative care, offering person-centered wellness through integrated care and shared space. Offerings such as nutrition & lactation, Arvigo Maya abdominal massage, naturopathic/functional medicine, thermography, and mental health support all in one location.

We are seeking a full-time midwife who shares our vision and is passionate about providing equitable, comprehensive, holistic, personalized and evidence-based care in an out-of-hospital and in hospital settings.

Our ideal candidate will be committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion as a foundation of practice. They must be aligned with the Midwifery Model of Care, be familiar with nutritional, physical, and emotional needs for pregnancy, be an effective communicator, be able to work and thrive in a team environment, and be compassionate and comfortable with shared decision making. They must love and trust birth as a normal event, yet possess the skills and knowledge to recognize and act appropriately on any variation from normal.

Our midwives offer comprehensive prenatal, labor, birth, postpartum, and well person care to a diverse clientele, as well as precept midwifery students. We work closely with our OB colleagues to co-manage as needed, with our transfer hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital 1.7 miles from our facility.

Our ideal candidate is one who has previous experience and a strong knowledge base of community birth (birth center or homebirth) and hospital experience and interested in hybrid birth center and hospital midwifery care. Additional training and/or interest in natural medicine and functional medicine an additional plus!

Competitive salary with benefits offered. Eligibility for the NHSC Loan Repayment Program - awards up to $50,000 in exchange for a two-year commitment to provide care at our approved HRSA site. We are looking for a start date of Spring 2024.

We look forward to hearing from you!
