We are so excited you are interested in joining the Atlanta Birth Center family for this pregnancy!
Before you begin, there are some important steps that you must take:

Here is what you need to know about starting care with Atlanta Birth Center for birth center delivery (available for due dates until September 14, 2026), home birth or planned hospital birth!
If you don’t need a Confirmation of Pregnancy appointment or you are transferring into our care after receiving care with another practice, please follow these easy steps to start care with our birth center.
Birth Center: In the State of Georgia, candidates for birth at a birth center are required to meet this criteria:
Age range of 16-36 ONLY if first birth; NO age restriction for subsequent births
Healthy, without significant chronic medical conditions (ex. High blood pressure/cardiac conditions, current or history of seizure disorders, bleeding disorders, type 1 diabetes, gastric bypass surgery). Some conditions we can manage or co-manage like hypothyroid, depression/anxiety, etc.
Single baby, not twins (this may be discovered after the first trimester, and we will refer in those situations)
No previous cesarean birth or major uterine surgery
No previous preterm birth (before 37 weeks gestation)
No previous pregnancy loss after 20 weeks gestation
Regular prenatal care with required testing (initial labs, 20 wk ultrasound, 24-28 wk glucose tolerance test)
Uncomplicated pregnancy without conditions that necessitate continued care in a hospital setting and/or by physician
Typically, we are able to accept first time parents up to 32 weeks and parents with a history of previous vaginal birth up to 36 weeks

2. Homebirth: We are now accepting families for planned homebirth. If you are interested in learning about this option please reach out to our homebirth coordinator at homebirth@atlantabirthcenter.org
3. Hospital Birth: If you DO NOT meet Georgia’s birth center criteria above (or are due after September 14th, 2026), and home birth is not the right fit for you. We are also offering planned hospital birth with our midwives in collaboration with the Morehouse School of Medicine obstetricians and midwives. Reach out to our intake coordinator at intake@atlantabirthcenter.org

Ready to start care with us for delivery at the birth center (before September 14, 2026), home or hospital? If you are ready to get started complete a clinical intake by filling out our Intake forms. This page is for prospective clients that have believe they are a good candidate for care with our practice. Completing a clinical history questionnaire and verification of insurance benefits is required prior to scheduling your first prenatal appointment.
