PRN Midwife (Help as Needed)

Molly was born and raised in the south and from an early age had a fascination with pregnancy, birth and motherhood. One of her earliest memories is visiting her aunt Lois after she gave birth to her 5th son and being in awe as Lois shared her birth story. Molly studied special education and anthropology at Mississippi State University, with an initial desire to go to medical school and research child attachment disorders. However, after learning about midwives as part of an anthropology course, Molly felt called to midwifery. She completed her midwifery degree in 2016 at Emory University. During her time at Emory, she trained at a birth center in Knoxville, TN and felt inspired by their model of care. After graduation, Molly worked with a Federally Qualified Health Center in the metro Atlanta area providing midwifery care to primarily low-income and high-risk women. Molly then joined a private practice in the metro area, where she still works per-diem. In 2019 she gave birth to her first son at Atlanta Birth Center. Then in 2021, she welcomed another son, also with Atlanta Birth Center. Her experience during both pregnancies and births will forever shape her as a mother and a midwife.  After the birth of her second son, Molly felt a renewed passion for providing care in an out of hospital setting and is thrilled to join the Atlanta Birth Center team as a per-diem midwife! Molly has a strong interest in women’s mental health and is currently in pursuit of training in mindfulness with the hope that she can share these skills to help women understand and process experiences during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. When not working as a midwife, Molly is busy keeping up with her two boys and husband, and enjoys hiking, cooking, and running.
